Erik-Jan Zippro worked as a lawyer at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek NV, a major Dutch law firm with an international commercial practice. Until October 2014 Erik-Jan worked in De Brauw’s Litigation & Arbitration department and Competition & Regulation department. At De Brauw’s Litigation & Arbitration department Erik-Jan gained experience in advising and litigating in the areas of corporate and commercial litigation, including contract disputes (including ICT), liability issues, insurance issues, cartel damages actions, public procurement disputes and attachment and execution disputes.
At De Brauw’s Competition & Regulation department Erik-Jan was engaged in cartel cases, merger notifications, questions relating to possible unlawful State aid, fraud cases and financial law cases. Erik-Jan also has extensive experience assisting clients in proceedings before the various courts in the Netherlands and the EU. Before Erik-Jan started as a lawyer at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek NV, he worked as a Ph.D. Fellow, Research Fellow and Assistant Professor of Private Law at Leiden University. Erik-Jan obtained his PhD in 2008 at Leiden University with a dissertation about “Private enforcement of competition law.”
Erik-Jan publishes regularly in various academic journals and is editor of the Dutch journal Maandblad voor Vermogensrecht. Erik-Jan provides post academic courses for lawyers, legal counsels and members of the judiciary in contract law and tort law (including the law of damages).
