Schadensersatzanspruch aus dem Lkw-Kartell

In 2016, the European Commission fined five major truck manufacturers - MAN, Volvo / Renault, Daimler, Iveco and DAF - over €2.9 billion for participating in a price-fixing cartel.  Scania was fined €880 million for its participation in the cartel and was the only truck manufacturer to appeal the decision.

In addition to the agreement on gross list prices, the truck manufacturers agreed to delay the introduction of emission reduction technologies as well as to pass on the costs of these technologies to their customers. The agreements covered both medium-duty trucks (payloads between 6 and 16 tonnes) and heavy-duty trucks (payloads over 16 tonnes) and affected the entire European Economic Area.

Hausfeld is one of the most active law firms in the enforcement of claims for damages arising from the truck cartel throughout Europe. The firm represents a large number of affected companies in several European jurisdictions.

In November 2020, the Global Competition Review (GCR) awarded Hausfeld's pioneering pan-European work in the truck cartel as "Litigation of the Year" in the field of antitrust law.
